What is Botulinum Toxin?
Botulinum toxin or commonly known as ‘Botox’, is a protein that targets a chemical substance called acetylcholine which transmits contraction information to the muscle. Botulinum Toxin temporarily blocks the release of acetylcholine and therefore temporarily weakens the muscles responsible for developing facial expression lines caused by muscle activity. Botulinum Toxin can also be used in the event of excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis).
